Fentanyl in her purse, alcohol on her breath, but none of it fits the woman Nick knows. As Andrea lies in a coma, Nick sets out to uncover the truth, only to find himself circling a far larger conspiracy. 

Told in brisk, shifting perspectives, the novel races across courtrooms, safe houses, and dark corners of Tampa Bay. Johni’s prose is lean, emotionally charged, and sharply observed. The characters, especially Nick, his friend José, and a morally conflicted detective undercover with the gang, are richly drawn, their choices messy and layered with consequence. The dialogue crackles with tension. Johni keeps readers a step ahead of his characters, dropping just enough clues to stir suspicion while holding back key details until the moment lands. The result is a steadily mounting tension that makes the book hard to put down. 

Fans of fast-paced, morally layered thrillers will be eager to continue Nick Justin’s journey.
