Author interview

An intriguing storyline, scenarios grounded in the real world, and a breathless pace make Hunt’s latest standalone fantasy a must-read. Trying to defend the Queen, whom he loved secretly, Sir Ezra brutally killed her would-be assassins, including the Queen’s husband and got banished from the Queendom. Now eleven years later, he is back in the capitol, hoping to catch at least a fleeting glimpse of the woman he was sacrificed for. But the Queen is nowhere to be found. Hunt paints an engrossing picture of his fantasy landscape and populates it with thoroughly compelling, colorful characters. The courageous, honorable Ezra makes for a memorable troubled hero, and his love story with The Queen is poignant, familiar, and profound. The exhilarating journey of his quest to protect The Queen propels this story forward, and Hunt does a masterly job keeping the tension high and the suspense crackling while still creating plenty of space for readers to get to know his large cast of intriguing characters and explore the fascinating fantasy world. Although this narrative provides satisfying closure (this is a standalone novel), readers will hope for more about these unforgettable heroes. A page-turner.
