Author interview

A young witch grapples with fate, struggling to find her real identity in a foreign land in Cook’s engrossing latest. Kyra Vale Aiwler has always found it difficult to get along with other witches in her coven. But when a work assignment on earth brings Kyra face to face with the truth that she belongs to the royalty of the fae realm, she is left struggling to understand her destiny. With a lingering darkness threatening the existence of the fae realm, it’s up to Kyra to utilize her untapped powers and conquer the threats of the foreign land. Cook’s worldbuilding is fantastic, and her level of detail is fascinating. Magic, romance, and political intrigue permeate the narrative. Fully fleshed-out, authentic characters, including a dryad, surround stubborn, determined Kyra as she finds herself facing a strange destiny, she knew nothing about. Kyra’s struggle as she comes to terms with the new circumstances of her life is portrayed with conviction. Romance is sensual and sex scenes scorching hot. Kyra’s exploration of her family’s past complements her journey toward self-discovery, and readers will root for her success. A promising premise, a flawless execution, and a cliffhanger finale make this an exhilarating read. Readers will look forward to the next one in the series.
