Atrium combines reality with myth, memory, and dream to create a metaphorical tale of epic proportions. Dr. David Christopher Meenins is on his way to Earth, avoiding curious close encounter seekers. But with the resident alien colony on Earth in the middle of a blood feud, Dr. Meenins’s mission takes an unexpected turn. Atrium painstakingly conjures advanced time-traveling technology, combining it with Earthly traditions and cultures to deliver a meandering narrative embedded in mysticism and adventure. She is equally skilled when it comes to drawing well-rounded characters and a multilayered plot rife with sci-fi intrigue. Though vague, overlapping timelines and large cast of diverse characters occasionally make the fantasy world difficult to visualize, high-stakes action and the deep thematic storyline propels this epic tale to its climactic end. Atrium uses Dr. Meenins, Linda Deemer and others’ galactic voyages to expertly navigate themes of identity, belonging, existence, and connection. Readers who do not care about the conceptions of a traditional novel and its structure won’t want to miss this one. Atrium is an author to watch.
