Author interview

The author pair, Susan Rogers and John Roosen’s, engrossing second installment in the Yoga Mat Mysteries series sees Elaina and Ric unraveling a sinister hacking conspiracy of grave consequences. When Edward William, Elaina’s father, goes missing after a cryptic phone message, Elaina knows there’s something very wrong about the whole situation. She approaches her friend and lover, Ric Peters, for help. The pair begin to look into the matter and realize that Edward’s disappearance is linked to a planned cyber-attack, which can not only destabilize Australia but also markets across the globe. The authors execute the plot nicely, keeping the sleuthing believable and offering up surprising revelations. There’s a dangerous conspiracy of international consequences at the heart of the story, but the novel has the feel of a cozy mystery, with snug family and friendship bonds driving the narrative. Australia’s golden coastline is a wholesome setting of contemporary niceties and avant-garde happenings. The central mystery is well-realized. This is only the second book in the series, but Elaina and Ric have become solidly engaging characters: readers will root for them to make it through several high stakes, dangerous situations unscathed. Atmospheric, clever, and fun; A thoroughly entertaining yarn.
