Chapman turns a simple search for a treehouse into an engaging adventure filled with quirky characters, gentle humour, and lessons about embracing change. “I miss our tree home and all of our friends in Miami Beach,” laments Grumpy the Iguana. His more resourceful companion, Green Parrot, has other plans. Newly arrived in Naples, Florida, the pair need a treehouse, and preferably one that feels like home. Their best hope is Mr. Pelican, a mysterious old bird with a reputation for matching animals with their forever homes. But what awaits them at the historic Naples Pier?

Chapman draws considerable mileage from her protagonists’ opposing temperaments. Grumpy’s lumbering reluctance contrasts amusingly with Green Parrot’s restless enthusiasm, while Mr. Pelican’s unexpected insistence that his visitor “Just sit and be still for a minute” introduces a thoughtful lesson in mindfulness. An ambitious young pelican, determined to join the elite Pelican Squad, adds comic energy and a lesson in perseverance. Chapman’s affectionate characterisation and playful dialogue keep the adventure lively, while the friends’ search offers moments of discovery and anticipation. Natalia Loseva’s bright, expressive illustrations capture the animals’ personalities and Naples’ coastal beauty, with historical details adding local flavour. The eventual discovery of an extraordinary tree provides a satisfying resolution.

A sweet, sun-drenched adventure with plenty of heart and a dash of whimsy. Perfect for young readers, animal lovers, and families navigating new beginnings.
