Author interview

Set in Kuwait, this excellent second installment in the Evan Davis Tale series from Charles proves his mettle as an accomplished conspiracy thriller writer. As an employee of Al Hakim, a benevolent Kuwaiti horse-breeder, Evan Davis, the Detroit-based writer-turned-world traveler is hired to change the country’s perception on the world’s stage, but finds himself embroiled in a dangerous conspiracy after documents detailing atrocities against the Bedoon are thrust into his hands. As Evan’s journey takes him into the heart of the matter, he realizes coming out alive off the dangerous situation has become almost impossible. Charles takes readers inside Kuwait’s intimate social and political circles while placing an entire class of people squarely in the path of a deadly conspiracy. The characters are all well-delineated, the effective worldbuilding brings Kuwait to life, and the tension will keep readers riveted until the last page is turned. The novel is as much a character study as it’s a tale of thrilling political intrigue, and Charles adeptly casts a searing light on age-old damage wrought by systemic human right abuse on the Bedoon population.

This is a top-notch, entirely gripping thriller. Lover of international intrigue won’t want to miss this excellently crafted conspiracy thriller.
